Religion and the Templeton Foundation

From Jesus and Mo.

This Jesus and Mo comic is particularly interesting because in discussions of atheism in this and other blogs, some posters and commentors appear to suggest that when a person rejects religion, the rejection leaves a gap, much like the gap that appears when a tooth is extracted. Many non-religious people do not feel there is any gap, but if some people do they can fill that gap with science.

This interpretation may not be what the creators of Jesus and Mo intended, but it is, despite the reference to the Templeton Foundation, the way I read their June 23rd, 2009 comic.

Not a gap, but a burden (a cross to bear, maybe?). And without it, you feel relieved.
